Welcome to the home page of Matters of Life & Death, an innovative documentary series that deals with the often unspoken issues of death, dying, grief and loss. It is currently in development for Australian and international broadcast television and an educational audience.
As a series Matters of Life & Death aims to demystify dying and death, and explore the attitudes and feelings that surround this inescapable event. Structured as four x one hour episodes, Matters of Life & Death will take a bold, daring, and occasionally humorous approach to present experiences of dying, death and loss. The series will include interviews with the dying, carers, families, friends, colleagues and health professionals, presented in an accessible, informative and engaging manner. It will explore cultural attitudes towards death and loss, examine how we can manage the practical aspects and look at what the future holds.
Matters of Life & Death will reach across established boundaries, sectors and socio-economic groups regardless of whether they live in urban, regional or rural areas. It aims to offer new ways of thinking about death and dying, to encourage conversations, to allow people the freedom to express themselves, and to reflect real experiences.
